Knicks Coast with Solid Team Effort Vs. Suns
Everyone played his role, and a good game was had by all. The first half blitz provided the cushion that allowed the Knicks to coast through the second half. The defense came up large, allowing just 31 first half points, 11 in the first quarter.
The starters all played 35+ minutes and deservedly so. They played team ball on both ends of the floor. Jalen and the rest had just 5 TOs. Brunson and Randle had 6 dimes each, Grimes had 5. IQ was .500 on 6-12, 3 – 6, from the field. Jules was on fire early when he scored most of his 28 points, sticking a few closely contested threes. Randle cooled considerably, finishing 7 – 18, 4 – 12. However, Jules early success sparked the Knicks run away victory.
Grimes, Mitch and the rest of the Knicks D held the Booker-less Suns to 83 points on 34 – 87, 10 – 37 from deep. The team played with terrific rhythm. The switches and rotations had the look of a group of players who knew what each other was doing. New York had 74 FGAs. Mitch was 5 – 7 and Grimes 5– 9, 2– 6. The Knicks hit 39.4%, 13-33 from three. No individual stood out on offense. It was a team effort in which all the players played to their strengths.
